Car tire 87T vs 88H Kumho solus KR21? I have a 2005 hyundai Elantra with 50K miles, my tire rating needs 88H, can I get an 87T. Kumho Solus KR21 has a better rating but it is 87T and not 88h, will it make any difference if I put them on my car.

kelly_f_1999 replied: "every little differents in speed rating or load rating so if your not planing on high speeds not a problem been a tire guy 35 yrs just look on your driver door sticker will tel you what you need to know"

Jack replied: "It wouldn't matter just so long you replace all 4 at once. The T speed rating is just a little slower."

Jon P replied: "You can certainly use those tires on your car. They are just rated slightly higher. Something else you should consider is the Treadwear/Traction/Temperature figures. They will be expressed as example; 480 A B. As for these figures, the higher the number, the longer they should wear. With the A/B/C letters, A is the best. These figures are helpful in comparing tires. You can go to TireRack.com and find all this info and then some. You can call one of their reps too and they will be glad to help you."

Which of these tires should I buy? I have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra GT 5-dr and need 4 new tires. Two brands suggested to me were the Kumho Solus KR21 and Solus KH14, suggested by my Hyundai dealer, and Pirelli P4 Four Season, suggested by a friend at a tire shop. Both brands would cost around $400 with balance and rotation (a little haggling has to be done, surely). Can anyone in the know or owners recommend one over the other for an all season tire? Thanks!

Masonic Knight replied: "Kuhmo or Yokohama"

lostrealist18 replied: "yokohama"

linkslink replied: "I would go with the Pirelli P4 Four Season Tires I find its good to have all weather tires with will give you more stability in bad weather helping you prevent accidents."

qtiepie replied: "I wouldn't buy either. Try going with the Firestone brand Firehawks. They have good traction, a wider tire, better in rain, better for faster cars, races and any car that can get a little squirrlie sometimes. I recommend these to anyone with a fast car. No need for low profiles."

Scanner replied: "Pirelli, but Michelons are the best. Do you have COSTCO anywhere around you? They have the best deals on tires in the U.S., but I don't know where you live."

SageAdrian replied: "Check out the links for the specs. Do the knowledge and make the decision based on how you drive and how you expect the tires to perform. And if you STILL cant decide... just pick the tread pattern that catches your eye. Good Luck"

daniel m replied: "I had a set of Kumho tires on a pick up truck several years ago and they were pretty adequate. They definitely weren't Michelins but I didn't notice them being any worse than any other brands."

mccoyblues replied: "The Kumho Solus KH14 is rated very low. If you want a standard all season radial from Kumho stick with the Solus KR21 or step up to a high performance Kumho with the Solus KH16. In a standard all season radial the Perelli P4 is the highest rated tire according to TireRack.com If you are looking for a superior high performance tire go with the Bridgestone Potenza."

cuz_aye_said_so replied: "$400 What the H they sure saw U coming looked up this tire and they are priced 50-70 bucks a pop 70X4=280 this being said ur tire shop "friend" isn't playing so nice to balance and mount 4 tire at $120"
